Software suite enables speech-assisted mobile apps

Sony EVP comments on Sony’s embedded Linux success

A news item from Nikkei Electronics Asia reports on a keynote speech by Sony's corporate executive vice president and Electronics co-CTO, Mario Tokoro, at last week's LinuxWorld Expo in Tokyo. Eclipse project unveils Draft 3.0 Plan

The Eclipse consortium has posted “Draft 3.0” of its project plan to the Eclipse.org website. The document lays out the feature and API set for the next major release of Eclipse after 2.1, designated release 3.0. ARM7/uClinux kit supports Xilinx CPLD

Wiscore Inc. (Taipei, Taiwan) announced support for incorporating the Xilinx XC95288XL CPLD into uClinux/ARM7-based embedded systems and devices. Linux scores a big win in Munich

IBM announced today that the city council of Munich, Germany plans to move 14,000 PCs and 16,000 users from Windows to Linux, in a move to make Linux their standard desktop operating system environment. Survey says: POS market growing, Linux interest high

Despite poor overall market conditions, shipments of point-of-sale (POS) terminals to Italy, Scandinavia, and the other EMEA (“Europe / Middle East / Africa”) regions increased in 2002, according to a new study by IHL Consulting Group.
