ARM unveils new ARM11 CPU cores with trusted computing support

ARM Ltd. announced two new ARM11 family microprocessors at the Microprocessor Forum in San Jose, CA today. The ARM1176JZ-S and ARM1176JZF-S cores, which feature support for ARM's security and power management technologies, are based on the ARMv6 instruction set architecture and are aimed at next-generation consumer devices requiring secure content and low power consumption. JFFS2 NAND Flash support arrives in stable Linux tree

Good news: JFFS2's support for NAND Flash memory has been merged into the 2.6.0-test tree. According Red Hat's David Woodhouse, JFFS2 on NAND has received heavy testing under the 2.4 kernel, and is present in the handhelds.org kernel tree. Support for eCos is in progress. (more…)

MontaVista unveils enhanced Carrier Grade Linux

PC/104 Consortium launches 2nd annual design contest

The PC/104 Consortium is holding a second annual PC/104 Design Contest. The contest will recognize embedded engineers who are designing innovative products based on the group's PC/104 and PC/104-Plus standards for small form-factor modular embedded computers, and winners in three categories will be flown to San Francisco to receive their awards at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco.
