VIA contributes security tools, sample application under GPL

VIA has released under the GPL a software development kit (SDK) and sample Red Hat Linux 9 application exploiting the Padlock Advanced Cryptography Engine (Padlock ACE) embedded in newer VIA processors. Mobile gaming dev tool supports 3D acceleration, embedded Linux

Mobile game tools vendor Fathammer has released an update to its suite of tools and APIs, which enable games written on Windows to be deployed on embedded Linux and other platforms. Wind River adds real-time debug tools to Eclipse-based Linux IDE

Wind River will integrate third-party real-time debug and analysis tools with Workbench, its Eclipse-based development suite for embedded Linux and VxWorks (formerly, “Wind Power IDE 2.0). ScopeTools, from Real-Time Innovations (RTI) will be the “first significant tools” integrated with Workbench when it arrives later this Spring, according to Wind River. (more…)

MontaVista adds RTI’s real-time debug tools to its embedded Linux

MontaVista has turned to debug and visualization tools specialist Real-Time Innovations (RTI) for three real-time debugging plugins for its Eclipse-based DevRocket embedded Linux development environment. RTI's StethoScope, ProfileScope, and MemScope will ship Q2, 2004, for MontaVista Linux Pro 3.1 on x86 and PPC, with other architectures, MontaVista OSes, and ScopeTools to follow. (more…)

Device Profile: Zultys Zip 4×5 VoIP phone for remote offices

VoIP hardware and software specialist Zultys Technologies has launched a new embedded Linux based phone for remote or home-office workers. The new Zip 4×5 incorporates a VPN router, firewall, and 4-port switch, as well as a normal analog phone for emergency calls. Novell, HP partner on Linux clients; IBM invests in Novell

New audio-enabled Super-H board gains hard real-time Linux BSP

Lineo Solutions will release a uLinux Consumer Electronics Edition (CE Edition) board support package (BSP) for a new Renesas audio board targeting handheld terminals, point-of-sale (POS) devices, and industrial applications. FSMLabs says it is integrating the multi-language Visual SlickEdit development workbench into its RTLinux Pro Developer Kit 2.0, with SlickEdit becoming the Kit's default IDE (integrated development environment).
