Linux 2.6 BSP available for rugged cPCI SBC

LynuxWorks is shipping a Linux 2.6 board support package (BSP) for Intel-based 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) boards from Kontron. The BlueCat 5.0 BSP comprises development tools and kernel and drivers, including a revamped DiskOnChip driver. (more…)

ARM adds souped up memory interconnect to ARM11 IP library

Advantech will use a new flash-based storage technology optimized for mobile devices from DiskOnChip originator M-Systems in its lines of RISC-based single-board computers (SBCs) and system-on-modules (SOMs). Intel adds three processors to embedded lineup

Intel to release next-gen BIOS technology under open source license

Intel said today that it plans to release the “Foundation code” of its next-generation firmware technology — a successor to the PC BIOS — under the Common Public License (CPL), an open source license, later this year. More than 20 years old, the BIOS (Basic Input-Output System) is the oldest software technology in PC platforms. (more…)

Crossplatform USB/PCI driver dev tool gains PPC Linux support

Jungo Software has added PowerPC driver capabilities to its cross-platform development tools for Linux. WinDriver is a graphical tool that creates user-space drivers that are portable across a number of OSes.
