Out-of-the-Box 2.0 includes a new graphical installer/uninstaller, a built-in comprehensive project knowledge base, automatic dependency management, context-sensitive help, and more, the company said. A free subset is also available. Among the Java projects included are: MySQL, PostgreSQL, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Ant, Struts, Hibernate, Jetspeed, CVS, XDoclet, and Middlegen.

The collection is said to include over 100 integrated Open Source projects, 10 reusable custom sample applications, and more than 350 pages of project documentation with tips, gotchas, and workarounds. In addition to updating projects included in the first release, the latest release adds: AspectJ, JMeter, Castor, Lomboz, DbUnit, Middlegen, Eclipse, NetBeans, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, JBoss-IDE, Roller Weblogger, JEditVery, Quick Wiki, Jetspeed, WinCVS, JFreeChart, and over 20 more.

A free “Community Edition” download is also available, which is described as a fully-functional, non-expiring version of Out-of-the-Box that does not require a license key, password, or registration, amd which installs just over 25 of the 100+ projects, including JBoss, MySQL, Ant, EJB Benchmark, Castor, and the Castor sample application.
