Article: CELF conference 2006 demo session review

Apr 12, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 3 views

The Consumer Electronics Linux Forum (CELF) hosted a technical conference in Santa Clara, Calif. this week. LinuxDevices.com's roving reporter attended, and brought back slides and photos from an interesting demo session at the event (including the photo of “King Tux,” pictured here).

Overall, the CELF conference featured 40 speakers, and drew 104 pre-registered attendees and 14 on-site registrations, for a total of 158 attendees from the US, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Austria, and England.

The demo session consisted of vendor- or project-sponsored tables, which showcased various Linux-related software and hardware technologies of interest to consumer device developers, including both experimental technology and technology that has been deployed in successful products. Each demonstration was summarized by a poster, the contents of which appears below.

This year, LinuxDevices.com's selection for the CELF conference “Best of Show” award goes to the Panasonic P901iTV, a Linux-powered mobile phone that transforms into a terrestrial digital broadcast television when you twist the screen sideways.

Enjoy . . . !
