Micro/sys is shipping a (single-board computer) based on an STMicroelectronics STPC Atlas processor, and built in a custom, 5 x 5 inch form-factor. The SBC0489 offers standard PC ports, plus PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expansion and lots of digital I/O and timers. It supports embedded Linux, and targets high-performance control systems.

The SBC0489's Atlas processor is clocked from 66 to 133 MHz. The processor features a Pentium-like x86 instruction set, 64-bit DRAM access, an FPU (floating point unit), and PC/AT-compatible interrupt, timer, and DMA controllers.

The video system includes 2D acceleration, and can power TFT flat panels or CRTs up to 1024 x 1024, Micro/sys says. I/O interfaces include 10/100MHz Ethernet, two serial ports, a parallel port, SVGA port, keyboard, mouse, floppy, IDE, and an 8×8 matrix touchscreen or keypad interface.

Also included are 24 CMOS I/O lines from an 82C55, eight channels of 12-bit A/D, four channels of 12-bit D/A, and three 16-bit timers from an 82C54. If needed, I/O expansion can be added to the SBC0489 through stackable PC/104 and PC/104-Plus modules.

The SBC0489 comes pre-loaded with a firmware environment that includes an industrial BIOS and an execution environment for 16-bit DOS executables. It can also be configured to run 32-bit operating systems, including embedded Linux.

Availability

The SBC0489 is available now, priced at $595. It comes with cables, sample software, and documentation.
