DirectFB 0.9.14 released

Oct 29, 2002 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

An announcement from the DirectFB project . . .

A new development version of DirectFB has been released today. This is the first version of this graphics library that offers the ability to run DirectFB applications on SDL instead of the Linux frame buffer device. This makes it possible to use DirectFB on BSD and allows developers to integrate DirectFB application development into their X11… working environment.

The release also offers a much improved multi-application core which allows the running multiple DirectFB applications at the same time.

DirectFB is a thin library that provides developers with hardware graphics acceleration, input device handling and abstraction, integrated windowing system with support for translucent windows and multiple display layers on top of the Linux Framebuffer Device. It is a complete hardware abstraction layer with software fallbacks for every graphics operation that is not supported by the underlying hardware. DirectFB adds graphical power to embedded systems and sets a new standard for graphics under Linux.
