EBX SBC targets M2M, runs Linux

WinSystems is shipping an x86-compatible EBX SBC (single-board computer) that runs Linux and targets M2M (machine-to-machine) connectivity applications. The LBC-GX500 is based on an AMD [email protected] processor, and targets industrial automation, transportation, test and measurement, petrochemical, MIL/COTS,… medical/diagnostic equipment, communication gateways/routers, and homeland security applications.

WinSystems says the PC/104-expandable LBC-GX500's wide variety of network interfaces sets it apart from other industrial embedded SBCs in its class. Options include 802.11 wireless Ethernet, GSM/GPRS cellular modem, CDMA cellular modem, ZigBee wireless RF module, 10/100 wired Ethernet port, “global-compliant” dial-up modem, six USB ports, and six COM channels.

The passively cooled board also boasts an industrial operating temperature range, supports both APM and ACPI power management, and is said to typically draw 1.6A, or about 8 Watts, under normal operation.

WinSystems also offers a similar GX500-powered board in the EPIC form-factor, as well as a Celeron-based EBX board for M2M applications.
