Coventive Technologies (Taiwan) has announced the formation of Malaysia's first Embedded Linux software company. The new enterprise, called “CSA Coventive MSC,” resulted from a joint venture between CSA Malaysia (a subsidiary of the US company, Computer Sciences Corporation) and X-Channel Ltd (a subsidiary of Coventive). According to a statement released by Coventive, the new company is chartered to develop and advance embedded technology solutions built around Coventive's XLinux (Embedded Linux) operating system, primarily in the information appliance marketplace, and to provide training and consulting services to XLinux customers.

Making its Malaysian debut at LinuxWorld, CSA Coventive MSC showcased its embedded-Linux-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) server and high availability (HA) gateway products. Various prototypes and devices showcased the capabilities and features of Coventive's XLinux OS with respect to information appliance applications based on Intel's StrongARM processors. Additionally, David Goh, CEO of CSA Coventive MSC, delivered a keynote speech (together with Intel) on the topic: “How the Malaysian government's 'E-Government' initiative will benefit from Linux and its related embedded technologies.”
