Embedded technology show set for November in Yokohama

This year's Embedded Technology Conference (ET2007) will take place Nov. 14-16, in Yokohama, Japan. Billed as the “World's Largest Embedded Technology Exhibition and Conference,” the show will feature conference sessions, “application themes,” and a large exhibition. Organizers expect 28,000 attendees.

The event features “application themes” on consumer electronics, automotive electronics, mobile/ubiquitous computing, and factory automation/robotics. Featured tutorial topics include multicore processors, WiMAX, Linux, and real-time design and testing strategies for complex embedded systems.

The exhibition area will host 860 booths, giving attendees hands-on access to the latest in embedded hardware, software, integrated circuits, and design tools, conference organizers said. The following types of products and services are expected to be on display:

  • Hardware:
    • Microprocessors, DSPs, chipsets, smart cards
    • Embedded platforms, board-level computers, wireless networking
    • Interface technologies (IEEE1394, USB, etc.), power supplies, IC sockets, backplanes
  • Software:
    • Operating systems / RTOSes, device drivers, firmware/middleware, Internet-related technology (browsers, etc.)
    • Database, security technologies (encryption/decryption, etc.)
  • Development environments and tools:
    • Programming languages (C/C++, Java, HTML/XML, UML, compilers/assemblers)
    • In-circuit emulators and debugging tools
    • EDA/system design tools, measurement & instruments, project management tools, configuration management tools
  • Others:
    • System houses, design service firms, system integration companies
    • Technology promotion organizations
    • Publishers, universities, research organizations, etc.

ET2007 is sponsored by the Japan Embedded Systems Technology Association (JASA), with participation by Japanese industry leaders. It will be held in the Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center.

Last year's conference reportedly had over 26,000 attendees.
