Euro embedded Linux adds Japanese VAR

A German vendor claiming to have the best-selling embedded Linux distribution in Europe has signed up a VAR (value-added reseller) in Japan. Four Link Systems will support Sysgo's ELinOS with a full line of services, including local support, training, and custom development.

Sysgo last week announced a new Southern European distributor. It shipped a new v3.1 version of ELinOS in early November, after adding an Eclipse-based IDE to the v3.0 version released in May, at the same time claiming its OS is the best-selling in Europe.

According to Sysgo, Four Link Systems was established in 1998, as an IT consulting company serving the visual communications industry. The company added embedded systems to its core competencies in June of 2004.

Sysgo President Knut Degen said, “We need a strong engineering partner like Four Link Systems to be able to adapt the product to the Japanese market's demands.”

Another embedded Linux vendor, MontaVista, recently beefed up its Linux presence in Japan, while Linux phone stack vendor Trolltech recently added a support vendor there as well.
