Apr 19, 2005 — by Henry Kingman — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

The OpenZaurus Project has achieved a new release of its free Linux software environment for the Sharp Zaurus. OpenZaurus 3.5.3 supports most Zaurus models, and features an improved boot process, along with many new and updated packages and a wide variety of bug fixes.

Supported models include the 5000, 5500, 5600, 6000, B500, C700, C750, C760, and C860. Support for the hard-drived equiped C3000 and its less expensive derivative, the C1000, is expected with the 3.5.4 release.

Satisfied OpenZaurus users, as well as those wishing to hasten the arrival of C3000/C1000 support, are encouraged to donate to the project.

Additional details are available online.
