Industrial panel PC supports Linux

Axiomtek is shipping a new slim, industrial-grade panel computer said to offer excellent graphic performance. The PANEL2155-810-FL1GE features a 15-inch, high-brightness TFT LCD touchscreen, and is available preinstalled with Linux, Windows CE, or Windows XP Embedded.

Axiomtek says the device is aimed primarily at POI (point of information) and HMI (human machine interface) applications. With its 1 GHz ULV Intel Celeron M processor, it can operate without a fan.

Touted features and specifications include:

  • Processor — Intel ULV Celeron M processor, clocked at 1 GHz
  • Memory — DIMM socket for up to 1GB DDR SDRAM
  • Display:
    • 15-inch high-brightness (250 nit) XGA (1024 x 768) TFT LCD
    • Resistive touchscreen
    • NEMA 4/12(IP65)-compliant front bezel
    • VGA output port; supports dual display operation
  • Storage:
    • 2.5-inch SATA hard drive
    • CD-ROM drive (option)
  • Input/output interfaces:
    • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet
    • 4 x USB 2.0 ports
    • 3 x serial ports (2 x RS-232, 1 x RS-232/422/485)
    • PS/2 mouse/keyboard port
  • Expansion:
    • CompactFlash slot
    • PCI slot
  • Audio:
    • Audio in/out jacks
    • Built-in speakers
  • RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant

An adjustable stand (shown below) and a VESA FPMPMI arm are available as options, enabling the device to satisfy a range of mounting requirements.


The PANEL2155-810-FL1GE panel computer is expected to ship “around the end” of April. Pricing was not disclosed.
