JTAG emulator supports eCos on ARM7, ARM9

Ronetix is shipping a JTAG emulator targeting Flash programming under eCos on ARM7- and ARM9-based microcontrollers. The PEEDI (powerful embedded Ethernet interface) emulator is available with an ARM7 board, the free eCos operating system, and GNU toolchains for Linux and Windows/Cygwin hosts.

According to Ronetix, PEEDI comes with support for 750 Flash devices. It has a built-in telnet interface for target Flash programming and simple debugging. Download speeds up to 400Kb per second are possible, the company claims.

The PEEDI emulator is available as part of a starter kit that includes Ronetix's EB55800 evaluation board (pictured at right). The board is based on an Atmel AT91M55800A, a 32-bit RISC processor that clocks up to 33MHz. The kit also includes a CD with GNU toolchains for Linux and Windows, as well as eCos example applications.

Additional touted advantages of the PEEDI emulator include:

  • 5kHz � 33MHz JTAG clock using 25cm standard cable
  • Target Voltage 1.2V � 5V
  • Built-in support for gdb (remote target via Ethernet)

Availability

PEEDI is available now, priced at 1,590 Euros. The Starter Kit is also available, priced at 1,750 Euros.
