Fluffy Spider says its flagship GUI (graphical user interface) and multimedia software stack was demonstrated by a Japanese provider of embedded and real-time software development services. Nissin Systems reportedly demonstrated the FancyPants GUI on Freescale's i.MX21 development board at Japan's ESEC Embedded Systems Expo in May.

According to Fluffy Spider, Nissin's ESEC demo showed FancyPants running on a Freescale i.MX21 development board with 64MB of memory. The processor was clocked at 266MHz, while the QVGA (320 x 240) touchscreen was set to a color depth of 18-bits. Software-wise, FancyPants ran atop 2.6.11 Linux kernel, along with media player and photo slide show applications.

Yoshio Kashiwagi, GM of operations at Nissin, stated, “Visitors were impressed by the ability of FancyPants to present full motion video without requiring any hardware acceleration on the Motorola / Freescale i.MX21 development board.”

Availability

FancyPants is available now for Freescale's i.MX21, and a variety of other platforms. Pricing was not disclosed.
