Linux helps bring state-of-the-art medical equipment to vets

Vetland Medical used embedded Linux and an ARM9-based single-board computer (SBC) to develop an inexpensive anesthesia monitoring device aimed at bringing technical innovations in human anesthesia equipment to veterinarians. This article by ADS, the SBC board vendor, briefly describes Vetland's EX3000 device and its development.

In addition to adapting human anesthesia technologies to equipment for animals, the EX3000 also brings a few innovations to the table, such as large, bright, easy to read displays and audible alarms, which make the device more useful to surgery teams with fewer, and less experienced, personnel.
