Linux vendor promotes marketing VP

Jul 21, 2008 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 views

MontaVista Software announced that Joerg Bertholdt has been promoted to vice president of marketing. A 15-year veteran in the embedded industry, Bertholdt (pictured) previously worked at Crossbow Technology and Wind River, and will now report directly to MontaVista CEO Rusty Harris, says the company.

Bertholdt joined the Linux tools vendor last year as senior director of product management and marketing, and has served under Larry Macfarlane, who was appointed VP of marketing in December. As the new VP, Bertholdt will “manage the company's product and go-to-market strategy, including the delivery of customer- and community-driven products and solutions,” says the company.

Before joining MontaVista, Bertholdt was VP of marketing for wireless-sensor firm Crossbow, where he helped market products such as the Linux-compatible Imote2 mote sensor platform. Prior to his Crossbow stint, Bertholdt was director of marketing for MontaVista rival Wind River, and he previously worked as a software engineer for the German Aeronautics Agency. A former professional volleyball player, Bertholdt received an advanced degree in computer science from the Technische Universitat in Munich.

Stated Harris, who assumed the role of CEO in February, “Joerg played a crucial role in developing our marketing plan, which has expanded our markets.”

Stated Bertholdt, “I will work with our engineering, product, and sales teams to ensure that MontaVista continues to deliver the commercialization solutions and services that embedded Linux developers need.”
