Live Linux CD demos Qtopia phone stack

May 22, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

[Updated May 31] — A live CD demontrating Qtopia Phone Edition (QPE) 4.1.1 will soon be available from Trolltech's website. Based on Knoppix Linux and the fluxbox window manager, the bootable CD includes software emulators that demonstrate both the touchscreen and keypad versions of the… Linux-based mobile phone stack.

An early version of the demo CD was released in Mid-may, without several features such as VoIP support and video playback. However, Trolltech has since removed that version.

The company says it is working to update the demo CD, and has promised to keep LinuxDevices informed when the new version is ready.

Trolltech released QPE 4 in April of this year.
