Taiwanese board-vendor Acrosser is shipping a mini-ITX single-board computer (SBC) with a 16-lane PCI Express slot and support for the latest Intel processors, including the Core 2 Duo. The AR-B1892 has built-in security features, and targets gaming machines, medical equipment, and other high-security, graphics-intensive… embedded applications.

According to Acrosser, the AR-B1892 SBC supports the latest Intel processors, including the Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, Core Solo, and low-power Celeron. Based on the Intel 945GM chipset, the board supports front-side bus and memory speeds of 533MHz and 667MHz, with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory.

The AR-B1892 board is said to provide excellent software security, thanks to integration with Acrosser's “Trustee Platform Module,” apparently an implementation of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) specification.

The AR-B1892 board is also available with Acrosser's AR-B2002 “gaming control card” (pictured at right), described as a 96-bit gaming I/O board with discrete I/O, security, static RAM, and a power off intrusion event logger. Off=the-shelf driver support for the AR-B2002 control card appears to be limited to Windows XP and 2000, however.

Additional features and specs cited by Acrosser for the AR-B1892 SBC include:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, Core Solo, and Celeron M processors
  • Intel 945GM chipset
  • Trusted Platform Module for security functions
  • Dual Channel 667/533 MHz DDR2 system memory up to 4 GB
  • VGA, LVDS, S-Video and DVI video outputs, support dual display
  • 6 x RS232 ports
  • 8 x USB 2.0 ports
  • 1 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
  • Dual SATA-II and IDE ports
  • 1 x PCI Express x16 and 1 x PCI slot
  • Bootable CompactFlash Type-II slot
  • Watchdog Timer
  • Intelligent temperature controlled system fan connector
  • “Robust, industrial grade reliability”
  • CE, FCC Class A safety compliance
  • Supports Linux, plus Windows XP/XPe/CE

Availability

The AR-B1892 appears to be shipping now. Pricing and minimum volume requirements were not disclosed.

The AR-B1892 appears to be available with a power supply and lightweight aluminum chassis, as part of the complete AR-B0892 system that Acrosser announced two months ago. The AR-B0892 system measures 12.2 x 8.3 x 3.1 inches (310 x 210 x 80 mm), and is positioned as a system that will enjoy long-term product life cycle support.
