Motorola’s “Chameleon” Linux mobile phone interface unveiled

Feb 2, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 views

Mobile-review has published a lengthy Russian-language article focused on the new “Chameleon” interface in Motorola's Linux-powered Rokr E2 music phone. The article contains over 294 screenshots, many of which are self-explanatory, even to those who do not read Russian.

The Rokr E2 is Motorola's second-generation music phone, and along with the Linux-powered A910, the first to feature the Chameleon interface. Two years in development, the interface is available in keypad-only and touchscreen-capable versions.

The Rokr E2 replaces the original Rokr, a non-Linux-based device that offered limited compatibility with Apple's iTunes music download service. The E2 eschews iTunes in favor of a Motorola-branded iRadio music service.

Numerous of screenshots of the interface, with play-by-play commentary in Russian, can be found in the three-page Mobile-Review story, here. Most of the screenshots can be found on pages three and four.
