The Open Embedded group is seeking speakers and attendees for a mini-conference on developing and using open source platforms such as Linux on handheld and other embedded devices. The conference will coincide with Australia's national Linux conference, LCA 2005, set for Apr. 18-23 at Australian National University in Canberra.

According to Open Embedded participant Tim “Mithro” Ansell, the mini-conference will feature representatives of Trolltech, as well as “many people working on Open Embedded.” Open Embedded is the successor to the Open Zaurus project, which originally aimed to create an open source firmware image for Sharp's Zaurus PDA. OpenEmbedded evolved into a cross-platform build system that supports a variety of embedded hardware.

Ansell said, “The mini-conference needs your support! More speakers and attendees are needed to help make this, [the] first of a possibly annual event, a huge success!”

LCA 2005 will feature speakers that include new OSDL Fellow Andrew Tridgell, Rasmus Lerdorf, Dave Miller, Rusty Russell, Havoc Pennington, and Jon “Maddog” Hall. Further details can be found here.
