PalmPalm unveils Japan, China, Euro expansion roadmap

PalmPalm Technology (Seoul, KOREA) will open its Japan office, PalmPalm Japan, on October 25th. Shigeo Nakamura, a specialist in wireless Internet and Internet appliances, will become the CEO & President of PalmPalm Japan. James H. Suh, Executive VP of PalmPalm Technology, Korea, will also serve as Executive VP of PalmPalm Japan and will assist in establishing the new Japanese office. PalmPalm Japan will have its own R&D and marketing facilities and plans to exceed $2M revenues by June, 2001.

PalmPalm Technology also disclosed that it is in the process of establishing a joint venture in China (tentatively called PalmPalm China), and that it is looking for one or more European partners with which to form a European PalmPalm division.

Key activities of PalmPalm Japan will be to build strategic partnerships with prominent application developers in Japan, to provide Embedded Linux support services, and to deliver Embedded Linux solutions based on PalmPalm's Tynux OS to Japanese Internet appliance manufacturers. PalmPalm Japan also intends to participate in efforts to standardize Embedded Linux throughout Japan by becoming an active member of Emblix, Japan's Embedded Linux consortium.
