Andrew Josey of The Open Group sends us this note . . .

This is a reminder that the early bird registration for the next meeting of The Open Group's Real-time and Embedded Systems forum which meets in Amsterdam on October 24th has been extended to today.

In Amsterdam we will be concentrating on SAFE Embedded Systems and Safety Critical software, and the session will follow on from two days of the main conference theme of Active Loss Prevention. Also on that weeks are open sessions on Quality of Service.

Our list of speakers for Amsterdam is as follows . . .

  • Dr Martin Timmerman will be giving the keynote to the session on SAFE Embedded Systems.

  • Peter Amey, Praxis Critical Systems Ltd, will be looking at how its possible to align the apparently conflicting goals of high integrity and low cost in building critical systems.

  • Dave Emery, Mitre Corporation and Forum co-chair will present a session on Safety-critical software assessing requirements and how the forum can address this area.

  • Chris Clark, LynuxWorks, will present on using real-time Linux in safety critical applications.

  • Vance Hilderman President of Enea TekSci, will present the different strategies of RTOS certification for DO-178B and IEC-61508. This will include the pros/cons for each certification path, the basic roadmap to performing a RTOS certification and the way OSE is going and what OSE has achieved.
The latest agenda can be found here. You can find details and register for the forthcoming Conference on our website.
