Red Hat, Intel sponsor carrier-grade webinar

Ziff Davis Internet will host an interactive “e-seminar” entitled “The Carrier Grade Alternative: Open Platforms Challenge Proprietary for Telecommunications Infrastructure.” Sponsored by Red Hat and Intel, the hour-long event is set for May 31, at 12PM EDT/9AM PDT.

Featured speakers include Thomas Wunderlich, marketing director of telecom at Red Hat, and Randy Trost, programs director of telecom at Intel. Frank Derfler, VP of Ziff Davis Media's market experts group, will moderate.

Attendees will hear:

  • How commodity platforms based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Intel hardware meet the functional and technical requirements of the telecommunications industry
  • How Red Hat Enterprise Linux has evolved as a carrier-grade operating aystem and how it compares to other carrier-grade Linux/Unix alternatives
  • How ATCA hardware is poised to make inroads as an industry standard carrier-grade hardware platform
  • How open source and industry standard hardware speed time to market and drive innovation without compromising stability, predictability, and performance
  • How Red Hat and Intel will work together to drive the migration from proprietary platforms to open platforms for operators, network equipment providers and telco ISVs
