Reference design targets DSL gateways

Apr 24, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 3 views

Samsung and Jungo jointly introduced a reference design that targets Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) manufacturers in the development of broadband gateways, routers, and DSL modems.

The complete reference design combines Samsung's 32-bit RISC communication processor with Jungo's OpenRG software suite for residential and small office/home office (SOHO) gateways. The Samsung S5N8947 is based on the low-power ARM7TDMI core.

The companies' combined solution also provides supports for DSL and Ethernet Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces, local area network (LAN) interfaces including Ethernet, 802.11b, and universal serial bus (USB). OpenRG offers integrated modules for a Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall, Universal Plug and Play home networking, local Web-based management, and remote upgrades.

OpenRG software for the S5N8947 is now available from Jungo.
