S. Calif. Linux conference seeks embedded speakers

Three Los Angeles-area Linux user groups are soliciting embedded Linux speakers for their fifth annual conference and expo. SCALE 5x (Southern California Linux Expo) is set for Feb. 11-12, at the Westin Hotel near LAX. It is organized by the USC, Simi/Conejo, and UCLA Linux user groups (LUGs).

Talks will be 45 minutes long. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Linux Core
    • Linux kernel enhancements
    • Linux in the Infrastructure — tools and appliances
    • Linux for embedded systems
    • Linux virtualization
  • User experience
    • Linux desktop environments
    • Productivity applications for Linux
    • Linux multimedia
    • Linux games
    • Linux security
    • Linux deployments and experiences: war stories
  • Other open source projects
    • LAMP
    • Voice over IP (VoIP)
    • Administration techniques for specific distributions
    • Open source licensing
    • Government policies with open dource

Proposals should include:

  • Talk title
  • Speaker name, affiliation, bio, email address, and optionally, a passport-sized photo
  • Bullet list or brief description of main points, with enough detail to enable the committee to evaluate the proposal
  • Specific requirements, such as overhead projector, microphone

Proposals should be submitted as one-page abstracts, in text or PDF format, to [email protected] by Nov. 20th. Acceptance notifications will be sent by Dec. 20th.
