Seminars for NEPs tout open architectures, outsourcing

Sep 22, 2006 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Enea and its partners will hold one-day seminars for network equipment providers (NEPs) this fall, in North America, Europe, and Japan. The seminars will showcase open architecture products and technology, and describe how telecom equipment makers can “outsource their platform design and accelerate application software development,” Enea says.

Enea's co-presenters for the seminars include:

  • Hardware distributor Avnet
  • Softswitch, protocol stack, and IMS provider DataConnection
  • ATCA hardware proponent Intel
  • ATCA board and chassis vendor Kontron
  • Carrier Grade Linux vendor MontaVista
  • Multi-industry business process outsourcer S3

According to Enea, NEPs are focusing on their value-add, while outsourcing more and more facets of overall platform design. And, when outsourcing, NEPs are looking to open architecture platforms to foster interoperability, portability, and scalability, the company says.

The seminars will cover “all aspects of platform design and integration,” including:

  • Hardware components
    • microprocessors
    • DSPs
    • AdvancedTCA / AdvancedMC boards, modules and shelves
  • Software components
    • Operating systems
    • Protocols
    • Middleware
    • Database technology

Seminar locations and dates:

  • Ottawa on October 3, 2006
  • Chicago on October 10, 2006
  • Stockholm, Sweden on October 17, 2006
  • Munich, Germany on October 24, 2006
  • Tokyo, Japan on November 9, 2006.
  • San Jose on December 5, 2006
  • Boston on December 12, 2006
