The Seventh Real-Time Linux Workshop, one of the most popular embedded Linux events of the year, will be held Nov. 2-4, 2005 in Lille, France. The event is hosted by the University for Science and Technology and its Computer Science Laboratory.

There is still time for papers to be submitted, according to event organizers. Interested speakers are asked to submit a 2,000-word abstract on one of the following presentation topics by Aug. 28, 2005:

• Modifications and variants of the GNU/Linux operating system
• Contributions and tools around and to real-time Linux variants
• Real-time Linux applications, in academia, research and industry
• Tools for embedding real-time Linux
• Embedded real-time Linux applications
• Work in progress reports
• Educational material on real-time Linux.

Abstracts may be submitted as ASCII text through this online form. Additional deadlines are as follows:

• Aug. 28: Abstract or paper draft (download template paper)
• Sept. 4: Notification of acceptance
• Oct. 2: Final paper to be sent via email to Peter Wurmsdobler
• Nov. 2-4: Workshop

The organization committee consists of Philippe Marquet, Computer Science Laboratory of Lille (LIFL), Institut National de a Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA); Nicholas McGuire, Real Time Linux Foundation (RTLF); and Peter Wurmsdobler, (RTLF).

Fees to attend the workshop are as follows:

• (Co-)Authors: $0 (Authors and co-authors of papers for the Real Time Linux Workshop)
• Students: $16 (Must show student ID; fee may be waived if volunteering. Grants available.)
• Individuals: $64
• Companies: $256
