IntelliCom has updated its uClinux-based system for remotely controlling and monitoring industrial equipment. The NetBiter webSCADA Modbus Gateway has been given a “major software update,” the company says, that adds support for 200 data points, alarms by email and SMS, and more.

The NetBiter device is part of IntelliCom's Remote Device Management Family, which comprises uClinux-based device adapters, a central management server, and user applications such as Web portals.

According to IntelliCom, users can connect modbus devices to the NetBiter, and choose data points from an online configuration menu, after which the selected data can be viewed over the Web.

IntelliCom lists features as follows:

  • Based on uClinux
  • Support for 200 data points
  • Alarms by email and SMS
  • Data logging of Modbus data
  • Two digital inputs
  • Modbus TCP (to connect to SCADA systems and PLC's)
  • 10/100 Mbit Ethernet
  • Supports up to 250 modbus slaves
  • Very simple and web based straight-forward configuration

Lars Eskstrand, development manager, said, “The power of a pure Linux approach reduced the development time dramatically.”
