Webinars offer fast-boot tips

Nov 4, 2008 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 views

Embedded Linux provider MontaVista has teamed up with Freescale Semiconductors to produce a no-cost webinar aimed at sharing “tips and techniques” for improving Linux startup time. Set for Nov. 18, the webinar features inputs from Christopher Hallinan, a MontaVista field applications engineer and author of “Embedded Linux Primer.”

The webinar will offered in two sessions, to accommodate both European and North American developers, according to MontaVista. It will be moderated by Don Dingee, editorial director for Freescale's OpenSystems Media. In addition to Hallinan, it will feature Sridharan Subramanian, Freescale software and platforms product management lead.

The webinar promises to provide strategies to help design engineers configure both bootloaders and kernels for reduced start-up time, while preserving required functionality, MontaVista says. Information and registration is available here. Attendees may also wish to review the freely downloadable Chapter on bootloaders from Hallinan's book.
