Gateway reference design runs Linux on Intel IXP425 NP

Feb 18, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

ADI Engineering unveiled its “Coyote” gateway reference design for the Intel IXP425 network processor today at the Intel Developer Forum in San Jose, CA. The reference design is intended to help developers create ADSL gateways/routers, wireless access points, voice over IP (VoIP) and voice over DSL (VoDSL) devices, and integrated access devices (IADs), by providing a ready-to-use “turnkey” design along… with third-party gateway software and operating system support. In particular, Embedded Linux support is available from Jungo Software Technologies and MontaVista Software.

Coyote provides WAN connectivity via ADSL or Ethernet, 802.11a/b single or dual mode, two voice lines, a four-port Ethernet switch, DSP-less VoIP/VoDSL, USB, RS-232, IDE, and parallel interfaces. The platform is easily expandable via dual MiniPCI slots.

ADI Engineering is demonstrating a complete RG/SOHO solution based on Coyote during this week's Intel Developer Forum in San Jose.
