Gb.Com used embedded Linux, TCP/IP networking, busybox, and other open source software to implement networking capabilities in its process automation and urban waste management systems. Networking capabilities were needed to meet new waste management and taxation laws. Gb.com had previously delivered 15 Windows-based waste management systems, as well as automation units for photovoltaic power generation.

Gb.com calls its new embedded Linux-based systems a user-friendly, cost effective solution for managing ecological islands.
