Roll-your-own embedded Linux service adds patches, docs

TimeSys has updated LinuxLink, its subscription-based support service for embedded developers building and maintaining their own Linux distributions. Additions include kernel patches contributed by Intel and Motorola, along with documentation on how use LinuxLink to create bootable CDs, and how to license TimeSys's Eclipse-based development tool suite.

Newly added patches include:

  • An Intel-contributed patch enabling the 2.6.15 kernel on IOP storage processor based reference boards, including the IQ80219, IQ31244, IQ80331, IQ80332, and IQ80333
  • A Motorola-contributed patch enabling the 2.6.14 kernel on MCG reference platforms, including the MVME5500, MVMVE3100, and MVME6100

New documentation-related LinuxLink additions include:

  • Creating a bootable CD using a TimeSys root filesystem (RFS). details
  • Generating a License for TimeSys's recently updated Eclipse-based toolsuite, TimeStorm. details

Registration is required to access the above links. Patches are supplied on an “as-is” basis, TimeSys says.
