XBox modchip includes preinstalled Cromwell Linux BIOS

Jan 27, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 10 views

(PR excerpt) — OzXChip has released a new XBox modchip which comes preinstalled with the new Cromwell Linux BIOS. Since the new Cromwell BIOS is fully open source it can be shipped with the chip without any legal risks.

Team OzX have also packaged a boot CD called “OzXFlash” (based on Andy Green's Raincoat), this cd when used with the OzXChip LPC modchip will allow you to flash any BIOS onto your OzXChip by simply booting to the CD which is based on the Linux operating system for the XBox.

The first release of OzXFlash has been tested on both V1.0 and V1.1 XBox consoles, the current OzXFlash release requires a bios file to be burnt onto a seperate CD. Although development is currently in progress to allow for a BIOS selection menu as well as downloading of BIOS files from ftp and web servers. OzXFlash is available as a FREE download.

Due to the huge number of orders being received by OzXChip, order processing will be delayed by a few days. Also have patience with our webserver as it is under a heavy load at present.
