According to a letter to customers at ZF Micro Devices Inc.'s website, the company ceased business on February 28, 2002, and has been acquired by a new company called “ZF Micro Solutions”, founded in February 2002.

“There should be no perceptible difference to ZF Micro Devices customers,” writes ZF CEO David Feldman in the letter. “All of ZF Micro Devices records, company information, and technology are intact.”

In a second letter to customers, Feldman says “ZF Micro Solutions has been advised by National Semiconductor Corporation that it will not produce the ZFx86 FailSafe System-on-a-Chip for ZF Micro.” In the letter, Feldman explains that ZF is “engaged in an urgent dialog with National Semiconductor,” and that ZF is requesting last-time buys from customers planning to use the ZFx86. “We need your 12-month forecast no later than April 20, 2002 for the number of chips you will need,” says Feldman in the letter.
