TimeSys supports carrier-grade upgrades for Linux 2.6

TimeSys Corp. has launched an upgrade program that it says will help telecommunications and network equipment providers quickly upgrade to Carrier Grade Linux Requirements Definition version 2.0.2 (CGL 2.0) of the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL). Trolltech announced today that more than fifty companies are currently developing or shipping Linux-based devices using its Qtopia graphical application platform software, including more than twenty mobile phones. TimeSys first to gain embedded Linux LSB certification

TimeSys Corp. announced today that its OSDL-registered Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) 2.0 reference distribution for PowerPC has also become the first embedded Linux distribution to conform to LSB version 1.3. The Linux Standards Base (LSB) aims to promote Linux interoperability and combat “fragmentation,” or fracturing into non-interoperable forks. (more…)
