Los Angeles, CA — (press release) — Advantech, a leading provider of complete application-ready PC-based single board computer (SBC) hardware and software solutions, recently announced its total embedded Linux solution — REDICE-Linux, from software partner REDSonic. The embedded Linux solution is available immediately for selected Advantech SBC products. The technologies within the REDICE-Linux kernel are not only suitable for use as a stable and powerful application platform for PC-based embedded systems, but are also capable of meeting customers' increasing expectations of real-time performance for precise timing in data acquisition and control applications.

Advantech's newly introduced PCM-5823 Dual Ethernet 586-level SBC, when powered with REDICE-Linux, makes an ideal platform for firewall, VPN, and gateway devices. This combination offers high security while providing
guaranteed quality of service (QoS), and also dramatically lowers the support cost for the system application developers. The new partnership between REDSonic and Advantech is great news for embedded system developers, since it provides a convenient source of one-stop solutions.

The REDSonic/Advantech partnership is being showcased this week at the Embedded Systems Conference taking place in San Jose, CA. A demo of REDICE-Linux running on Advantech hardware is running in booth #5069.
