LinuxWorld — (press release) — Lineo today announced plans to provide Windows NT and Windows 2000 developers with an integrated Embedix SDK and VMWARE tool kit that allows developers to work in their familiar Windows environment while creating Linux software for embedded devices. The Embedix V-kit provides Windows-hosted developers with a virtual Linux environment that provides them all of the… advantages and tools offered by Lineo's Embedix software to develop embedded solutions for many types of powerful devices.

Embedix Linux is Lineo's embedded Linux software which allows developers to develop embedded solutions on X86 and PowerPC processors. Lineo also supports other processors including Coldfire, Dragonball, i960, ARM7, ARM9, StrongARM, SuperH, Media GX, and MIPS.

The Embedix V-kit easily installs on a Windows development workstation and allows developers to quickly begin writing, compiling and building applications for embedded devices on their Windows desktop. V-kit provides developers with a virtual sandbox to test and evaluate their Embedix Linux solutions.
