LinuxWorld — (press release) — Agenda Computing, Inc. is exhibiting and demonstrating the Agenda VR3, a new Linux-based PDA, at LinuxWorld. The $149 four-ounce, pocket-sized PC has the power, speed and storage resources to run most current and future desktop-class computer applications. The Agenda VR3 has an open operating system offering compatibility with both PC and Linux-based applications.

“Agenda Computing recognizes that digital and wireless technological advancements are transforming the way people communicate and organize their work and play,” said Roger Richards, president of Agenda Computing. “We created this portable PC to address consumers's needs. The Agenda VR3 transforms the way its users stay connected on the go by providing powerful PC capabilities in an affordable, slim, light weight device.”

The Agenda VR3 comes with a large viewable area and an easy-to-read 160 x 240 pixel LCD screen with 16 grayscale shades. Agenda Computing's natural handwriting recognition capability allows users to write anywhere on the screen. The VR3 will be offered in three models, which will provide a choice of 2MB, 4MB, or 8MB Flash storage. All models have 8MB RAM memory.

The VR3's 66 MHz 32-bit MIPS processor (roughly four times the speed of comparably priced competitive handhelds) enables users to work on multiple applications simultaneously. This multi-tasking capability permits consumers to download or send emails while working on something else at the same time. A 33.6kb/s modem is available for purchase so users can connect to an ISP via dialup accounts for e-mail, or to simply connect to any phone line tosend faxes.

The Linux operating system allows for quick and easy interaction between PCs and the Agenda VR3. With the specialized QuickSync cradle, the Agenda VR3 can communicate with both PC and Linux applications. The Obex-compliant infrared component allows for the transfer of information, such as vcards, between the Agenda VR3s and other compatible devices, including Palm handhelds.

The Agenda VR3 portable PC device is available to test during the LinuxWorld Expo in the San Jose Convention Center from August 15-17, 2000, at the eLinux booth, #638. In addition, Agenda Computing will hold two presentations on August 15 and 16 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for media, developers, and engineers to test the product and receive one-on-one demonstrations.
