Mobile browser vendor ships dynamic content engine

Jun 9, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Access is shipping a new user interface (UI) framework that enables mobile operators to deliver dynamic mobile services and programs. Dynamic Menu is based on Access's NetFront Rendering Engine, which supports Linux.

Access says mobile operators can use Dynamic Menu to push and pull branded or co-branded content and services directly to and from any handset, regardless of the operating system. For example, operators can allow subscribers to create a customized home screen with favorite services like news, weather, sports scores, SMS, or calendars that are dynamically updated throughout the day. Dynamic Menu supports content developed using HTML, ECMAScript, CSS, SMIL, and SVG.

“Most importantly, NetFront Dynamic Menu makes the mobile Internet more fun and useful to the millions of subscribers that until now have only enjoyed static content,” said CEO Toru Arakawa.
