PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Ziatech Corp., a leading innovator of Applied Computing solutions for open market communications network equipment, today introduced a new high-performance System Master CPU board for CompactPCI at the Spring 2000 Intel Developer Forum.

The ZT 5522 CPU Board with Single/Dual Pentium III Processor is designed for high-performance, compute-intensive applications and integrates the latest dual processor technology from Intel Corp. The new CPU board delivers superior performance and memory capacity while integrating an OEM-oriented mix of embedded features, operating system choices, and multicomputing and hot swap peripheral support.

The ZT 5522 6U board features the newly announced Socket 370 (FC-PGA) 600 MHz Pentium III processor from the Network Processing Group of Intel. The Socket 370 footprint enables future scalability in a socketable solution for performance-hungry upgrades.

Incorporating the Intel 840 chipset, the ZT 5522 is designed for applications requiring high-speed on-board I/O including a 100 MHz front side bus and dual memory bus channels. In addition, the board is equipped with dual 64-bit PCI bridges allowing it to drive up to 14 CompactPCI peripheral boards.

Ziatech offers this leading-edge technology and performance from Intel's Embedded Roadmap through its affiliation with the Applied Computing Platform Provider Program under Intel's Network Processing Group. Thanks to this unique partnership, Ziatech is able to provide customers with early availability of Intel's embedded life cycle performance products and to provide designers with high-performance solutions quickly, for reduced time-to-market.

The new ZT 5522 offers a choice of operating system support including Linux, VxWorks, and Windows. The ZT 5522 can also host hot swap peripherals and serve as the System Master in Ziatech's integrated multiprocessing environment, CompactNET.

The board can support ECC SDRAM memory configurations up to 4 Gbytes, and peripherals including dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network interfaces, USB, dual serial ports, an Advanced Graphics Port (AGP) controller and rear I/O connections.

On-board temperature and voltage monitoring capabilities are provided while system-level status monitoring and control can be supported via the dual SMBus interfaces. Integrated alarm indicators can be used to indicate system fault conditions.

The ZT 5522 CPU Board with Pentium III Processor joins Ziatech's family of Intel Embedded Architecture CPU boards, and is designed to operate with Ziatech's complete line of CompactPCI products for high-availability applications. This product line also includes scalable platform and peripheral products, operating system support and pre-configured, fast track development systems. These modular CompactPCI computer products serve as the computing core for telecommunications, data communications and industrial automation applications.
