QNX Software Systems announced that the popular MySQL database is now available for use on version 6.2.1 of its QNX Neutrino real-time operating system (RTOS) running on x86 processors.

“By supporting the MySQL database, we offer developers and end users access to a proven, open source DBMS with a solid track record of reliability and performance,” said QNX director of strategic alliances at QNX, Linda Campbell.

QNX Neutrino is a scalable, POSIX-compliant RTOS that is used in mission-critical environments such as telecommunications equipment, automotive systems, medical instrumentation, consumer electronics and many other devices, the company said.
