Sharp publishes SL-5500 vs. SL-5600 comparison whitepaper

Mar 21, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 3 views

Sharp has just published a technical whitepaper describing the key differences between the SL-5500 and the new SL-5600 models of the Zaurus Linux PDA. The paper includes hardware changes, like CPU, estimated battery life, and physical size, as well as differences in the operating system and core applications.

For example: The PIM software now uses a set of “DTM” (DaTaManager) modules, rather than XML data files. The filesystem is now JFFS2, instead of ext2fs. Processes and files are owned by a normal user, rather than 'root' superuser.
