Next week's Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) at San Francisco's Moscone Center will feature over 400 embedded technology exhibits, including 14 chosen as finalists for the Best of Show award by sponsor CMP Media. The finalists were chosen from among 34 entries for their embodiment of innovative technology in end-user applications.

Category winners and overall Best of Show will be announced at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30 on the exhibit floor.

Finalists include:

• Analog Devices will exhibit a BMW Z4, which uses embedded technology to provide a multimedia driving experience, in-car professional Navigation System with visual display, speech processing, and GPS. Booth 1902.
• Texas Instruments will exhibit a self-navigating, unmanned vehicle designed by Digital Auto Drive (Team D.A.D.). The vehicle qualified in a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contest. Booth 1314.
• Applied Data Systems will exhibit RoninCast, a visual communication system that wirelessly dispatches user-scheduled digital content to multiple displays in widely dispersed remote locations. Booth 2726.
• QNX Software Systems will exhibit InFocus's LiteShow, a “connect and project,” zero-configuration wireless projection system. Booth 2542.
• Wind River will exhibit the Intellistar next generation Weather Channel system for selecting content based on geographic viewing area. Booth 1602.
• Applied Data Systems will exhibit the Wurlitzer Digital Jukebox, an elegant yet sophisticated digital home audio device with a simple user interface. Booth 2726.
• Toshiba America Electronic Components will exhibit the HomePod, a digital home entertainment console leveraging existing wireless networks to share music files through multiple home computers. Booth 1026.
• Xilinx will exihibit the Sensio 3D video processing system that brings the 3D stereoscopic movie experience to home theaters. Booth 1326.
• Applied Data Systems will exhibit the Nomad Expert Technician System, a wireless wearable computer with head-worn, head-up display. Booth 2726.
• Newport Electronics will exihibit the iTHX-M, a real-time temperature and humidity monitor with network and Web interfaces. Booth 2722.
• Agilent Technologies will demonstrate a dynamic probe application for logic analyzer-based debugging of FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays). Booth 926.
• Tektronix will exhibit its TDS7000B Series oscilloscope with Silicon Germanium (SiGe)-based triggering system and DPX technology. Booth 820.
• Nallatech will exhibit the BenNUEY-PC104, a high-speed disk storage system based on the PC/104Plus standard. Booth 1041.
• Wind River will exhibit the Mars Exploration Rovers “Spirit” and “Opportunity,” described as twin NASA robot geologists. Booth 1602.
