Forum to focus on software testing methods

SDForum will hold a forum on developer testing, a quality assurance approach that calls for programmers to test code as it is created. The Forum, held November 17 in Cupertino, Calif., will feature Agitar's Kent Beck, the father of Extreme Programming, along with representatives of Google, Oracle, and Wells Fargo.

According to the non-profit SDForum, the event reflects the broadening interest for developer testing, driven by practices such as Agile Programming, Extreme Programming (XP), and Scrum. The forum will focus on deployment in large-scale commercial environments, according to the SDForum, which says that “the majority” of Fortune 1000 companies are evaluating developer testing tools and processes.

The Developer Testing Forum features a keynote presentation by Kent Beck. The opening presentation, by Sriram Sankar, will discuss developer testing at Google. A panel, moderated by Agitar CTO Alberto Savoia, will debate myths and realities of developer testing with panelists from Oracle Corporation, Wells Fargo, and others.

Laura Merling, executive director of SDForum, said, “We believe that enabling software developers to directly impact and be responsible for software quality is fundamentally changing the way companies create software.”

The event will begin at 8:30 A.M. at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino, Calif. Additional details are available online.
