RTAI goes (partly) GPL

To reduce the risk of lawsuits due to a patent covering certain techniques used in RTLinux, the competing Real Time Application Interface (RTAI) project has changed the license associated with portions of RTAI from LGPL to GPL. The change in license was quietly phased in as part of the RTAI-24.1.8 release. (more…)

PalmPalm goes OMAP with TI deal

Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 Shipping

Reports are trickling in from the Sharp Zaurus community that orders of the consumer model, the Zaurus SL-5500, have begun shipping from Amazon.com, who had been accepting preorders. Warning: Sun StarOffice 6.0 beta expires March 31

Sun has informed downloaders of StarOffice 6.0 beta software that their program will expire March 31, 2002 if they don't download and install a free patch. It is currently unclear how long the patch will extend the use of the StarOffice 6.0 beta, but the extension will presumably be set to expire shortly after the fully released version of StarOffice 6.0 hits the market.
