MSC Vertriebs announced a COM Express computer-on-module (COM) that's available with extended-temperature versions of Intel's Atom processor. The MSC CXC-US15WP supports -40 to 185 deg. F temperatures, and offers PCI/PCIe expansion, dual SATA2 connectors, LVDS and SVDO interfaces, gigabit Ethernet, plus eight USB 2.0 ports, says MSC.

Pika Technologies announced a GSM Module for its open source Asterisk- and FreePBX-based IP-PBX device. The dual-channel GSM Module for the Pika Warp Appliance for Linux enables PBX developers to offer connections to one or more GSM cellular networks, offering backup and LCR (least cost routing), the company says.
Juniper Research is projecting that the number of wireless M2M (machine to machine) embedded devices will rise to almost 412 million by 2014. The low-end NAS 7820 and NAS 7821 and the high-end NAS 7825 offer dual ARM11 processors clocked to 750MHz, network security engines and a variety of hardware acceleration engines, says the company.
Avalue announced an EPIC form-factor SBC (single board computer) employing Intel's embedded-specific Core i7-620LE and i7-620UE processors. The EPI-QM57 includes up to 4GB of RAM, two gigabit Ethernet ports, Type I/II CompactFlash and ExpressCard/34 slots, and an optional touchscreen interface.
