ARM11 module targets low-power devices

German embedded Linux house Denx and Italian turnkey-system vendor DAVE have co-developed a computer module and evaluation board aimed at low-power industrial applications. The Linux-ready “Qong” module, which is built into the “Qong EVB-Lite” evaluation board, uses a Freescale i.MX31 SoC (system on chip), says Denx. (more…)

Patent holding company Open Invention Network (OIN) has launched a “Linux Defenders” program, co-sponsored by the Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) and the Linux Foundation (LF). The German company DSM Computer announced a fanless computer targeting “24 x 7” operation in harsh environmental conditions. The NanoServer E8 includes an AMD Geode LX800 processor, a CompactFlash Type II slot, Mini PCI slot, and an optional “robust, protected” hard disk drive, the company says. (more…)

Embedded virtualization specialist battens hatches

Embedded virtualization specialist VirtualLogix has undergone a round of layoffs and is in the process of replacing its CEO, confirms co-founder Michel Gien. Camera daughtercard revs to three megapixels
