AMCC is shipping a Linux development kit for its 440EP processor for imaging and industrial applications. The kit includes a “Yosemite” board from Embedded Planet, along with tools, sample applications, benchmarks, hardware design files, and evaluation versions of embedded tools from LynuxWorks, Denx, and Embedded Toolsmiths.
Cavium has announced that its Linux-friendly line of security processors is available with microcode and SDKs supporting WiMAX access point and CPE (customer premises equipment) development. Additionally, the company says Nex-G used its Nitrox II security processor in a sixteen-sector WiMAX base station.

Toshiba America Electronic Components is shipping a reference board for its newest 64-bit MIPS/RISC chip. The RBTX4939 includes a TX4939XBG-400 processor module available for use in embedded designs. Toshiba is developing a Linux BSP (board support package), with BSPs also expected from MontaVista and Wind River.
AKCP has converted its data center security monitor from a proprietary RTOS to embedded Linux. The SensorProbe8Linux uses a variety of open source software to monitor server status, and a variety of attached sensors to monitor server room physical security.
Embedded Planet is shipping a compact, “low cost” RFID reader development kit that includes Linux support and a sample RFID application. The kit comes with a PC/104 form-factor single-board computer (SBC) and a PCMCIA-based RFID reader engine.

Astaro has embedded its own Linux distribution for enterprise firewalls and VPN routers into a line of Linux-powered firewall appliances. The Astaro Security Gateway family includes three models that support between 80 and 420 Mbps of firewalling throughput, and 26 to 270 Mbps of VPN throughput.
